A Halifax Regional Police (HRP) officer faces a criminal charge as a result of an incident that occurred earlier this month in Lower Vaughan.
On May 4, Windsor RCMP responded to an assault complaint in the Lower Vaughan area involving an off-duty HRP officer. As a result of their investigation, they have charged 45-year-old Constable Daniel Kavanaugh with assault.
Constable Kavanaugh, who has been with HRP for 6 years, is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on June 18. Constable Kavanaugh will remain on active duty pending an internal review of the incident.
Media inquiries regarding this incident should be directed to Windsor RCMP at (902) 798-2207.
