Police are requesting public assistance to identify suspects in a home invasion involving firearms that resulted in the seizure of drugs.
At 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a home invasion involving firearms at a residence in Lower Sackville. The initial investigation determined that two men forced their way in to a residence where they assaulted two of the eight occupants. A 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old female were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were released later that day.
The suspects fled prior to police arrival and are both described as 5-foot-8 men wearing masks and dark hoodies at the time of the incident. No other descriptions were available.
Halifax District RCMP, the Halifax Regional Police K-9 Unit and the Halifax Regional Police Emergency Response Team attended the scene. Further investigation resulted in police seizing a large quantity of cocaine, marihuana and other drug paraphernalia from the home.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Integrated Drug Unit. The RCMP Forensic Identification Section is assisting with the investigation. Police believe that this was not a random act.
