Police responded to a disturbance involving youth at a Natal Day event in Dartmouth last evening.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., a number of youths became involved in an altercation at the Natal Day fireworks event that was being held in the area of Prince Albert Road. Officers, who were on scene responded to the area. A large tightly packed crowd of youths was gathered around the individuals involved in the altercation.

Out of safety concerns, an officer deployed a sensory irritant to disperse the crowd. As the crowd dispersed, officers arrested a male youth who had participated in the altercation for breach of the peace. He was transported to HRP Headquarters and subsequently released without charges. Officers remained in the area to continue with crowd control and safety at the event. EHS was contacted out of precaution.
