Police seize transport truck load of drugs, Brooklyn, N.S.

Investigators in the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division with assistance from the Windsor District RCMP have seized a large quantity of drugs from a transport truck.

As part of an ongoing investigation, on Oct.

1, 2015, Windsor District RCMP conducted a traffic stop on an 18-wheeler transport truck on Highway 14, Brooklyn. The transport was searched and as a result, police seized the following:

609.5 pounds of cannabis marihuana
19,800 tablets of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)
3.9 pounds psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
47 methamphetamine pills
A small quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine
A 2007 Peterbuilt tractor and trailer

The driver and lone occupant of the transport truck, David Joseph MacDonald, 39 of Frasers Mills, has been charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance. MacDonald appeared in court on October 1 and was released on conditions. MacDonald is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on October 27.

The investigation is ongoing.
