Possible COVID-19 Exposure Prompts Action At Halifax Police

This evening, Halifax Regional Police became aware that a close family member of one of our officers has been in contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. In the interest of safeguarding the health of our employees and citizens we serve, we are exercising an abundance of caution and transparency and taking a number of steps. The officer has been in contact with Public Health and is currently undergoing testing.
 
The following steps are being taken immediately:
 
  • All other employees who had contact with the officer are currently in isolation and following all necessary precautions
  • Thorough disinfection of the workplace is currently underway, with a particular focus on high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, work surfaces, tools, etc.
  • Other pieces of equipment and vehicles the officer made contact or potentially made contact with have been identified and are being thoroughly disinfected
Health and safety of our staff and the citizens we serve is paramount. HRP is committed to taking every necessary precautionary measure to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
