Premier MacDonald Steps Into The Downtown Halifax Development Fray

Premier Rodney MacDonald has announced that he will intervene in city council’s decision to axe a waterfront development project earlier this week.  More..


The Canadian Press is reporting that the Premier has instructed his staff to look into legislation to reverse the decision of city council.  From the article:


“MacDonald, who has been pushing for more prime office space to accommodate a financial sector in the city’s downtown, said the decision was unacceptable.

The premier was also critical of the application being dealt with by an outgoing council after last Saturday’s municipal election.

He said the vote sends the wrong message to business.”
