This morning, Ms. MacDonald resigned as the Halifax Needham MLA after 18 years in office.
“I’ve always found Ms. MacDonald to be extremely capable and I respected her ability as a legislator,” said Premier McNeil.
“I’ve admired the way she conducted herself both as an MLA and cabinet minister. She served her constituents and all Nova Scotians well and I wish her the best in the next phase of her life.”
Ms. MacDonald was first elected in 1998, and won re-election in 1999, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2013.
