For the past five years the Prospect Road Community Centre Steering Committee has been working with Councillor Reg Rankin, HRM staff, residents from Goodwood through West Dover, the Prospect Road and Area Recreation Association and the Resource Opportunities Centre, to make the vision of a centrally located facility that will increase recreational and social opportunities and serve as a hub for community development for the area, a reality.

We invite you to join us on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 1:30 until 4:30 to celebrate the Grand Opening of the brand new Prospect Road Community Centre.

Come and be a part of this historic event in our community. We are greatly looking forward to showing community how all of the ideas and conversations we have had translate into bricks and mortar.

Enjoy a tour of this 22,700 sq ft, state of the art building, gather in the indoor street, use one of the new C@P computers, talk to the LEED’s (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design ) experts and find out more about the green aspects of the facility. Smell fresh baked cookies wafting from the kitchen, meet local crafts people in the art room and find out how you can make a donation and be recognized on a public work of art.

Check out a range of activities in the gymnasium, find out about memberships to the fitness centre, enjoy watching yoga, tai chi, judo, karate and more in the multi purpose room, listen and watch music and dancing in the dance studio. Partake of a hotdog courtesy of the Lions Club or decorate a cookie on the side patio. Find out who will be managing the Community Centre and how you can get involved by chatting with ROC board members and community centre staff in the meeting rooms and reception area.

The Prospect Road Community Centre is a place for …. You! We hope to see you June 19th – Everyone welcome!
