Public consultation session for Porters Lake and Surrounding Communities Active Transportation Plan

Friday, September 27, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Regional Municipality , in co-operation with the Shore Active Transportation Committee (SATC), is inviting residents of Porters Lake and the surrounding communities to attend the first public consultation in the development of an Active Transportation Plan for the area on Monday, September 30.

Friday, September 27, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Regional Municipality , in co-operation with the Shore Active Transportation Committee (SATC), is inviting residents of Porters Lake and the surrounding communities to attend the first public consultation in the development of an Active Transportation Plan for the area on Monday, September 30.

The Porters Lake and Surrounding Communities Active Transportation Plan will cover an area stretching from Porter’s Lake to Musquodoboit Harbour, including the communities of Porter’s Lake, the Chezzetcooks (East, Lower East, West, Head), Grand Desert, Seaforth, Conrad’s Settlement and Gaetz Brook. It represents the implementation of HRM’s Active Transportation Functional Plan at a community level, a plan which aims to encourage more walking, cycling, and other “human-powered” ways to move around our municipality.

When: Monday, September 30, 2013 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Where: Lake & Shore Community Recreation Centre, 40 Inspiration Drive, Porters Lake, NS

Residents that are unable to attend a session in person are encouraged to participate online at www.shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/active-transportation starting Monday evening.
