RCMP arrest erractic driver after pursuit, Halifax, N.S.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. This morning, Colchester RCMP responded to a report of an erratic driver near the RCMP Bible Hill detachment. The suspect driver drove aggressively around the detachment, driving across the lawn and through ditches and failed to stop for police.

The suspect driver drove aggressively around the detachment, driving across the lawn and through ditches and failed to stop for police.

Officers pursued the vehicle through the town of Truro, where Truro Police Service provided assistance. The driver proceeded to highway 102 where he continued to drive dangerously posing risk to other motorists and responding officers.

The pursuit ended in the town of Stewiacke when the driver struck an RCMP police vehicle head-on. The 18-year-old driver from Pictou was arrested and both the driver and police officer involved were transported to the Colchester-East Hants Hospital. The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has been released. The driver remains in police custody while receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries. No members of the public were injured during this incident.
