RCMP Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision at Exit 3 on Hwy 101

May 6, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash at Exit 3, Highway 101, Mount Uniacke, N.S.

On May 6, 2011, 2:37 AM, RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash at Exit 3, Highway 101.  Police believe that a vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and crashed through a guard rail.  Two people were trapped in the vehicle with air bags deployed.  The passenger, a 41-year-old female, died at the scene from her injuries.  The 30-year-old driver had to be extracted from his seatbelt and the vehicle.  He was transported to the QEII hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A RCMP Traffic Analyst has been called to investigate the cause of the collision. Alcohol, speed, and seatbelt use are being investigated as causal factors in this investigation.
