Halifax District RCMP is investigating the possible drowning of a 53-year-old man from the Lawrencetown area.
At approximately 8:45 a.m. today, Cole Harbour RCMP responded to call about an unconscious male rescued from the water near Lawrencetown Beach.
Witnesses observed that the man was in a canoe that tipped over. The male was rescued by two off-duty volunteer firefighters who were in the area.
Shortly after being pulled from the water, the male was transported to the hospital by EHS. This afternoon, the man passed away.
The investigation continues however foul play is not suspected.The identification the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
