Meteghan RCMP is seeking assistance from the public to advance a stolen vehicle investigation.
On April 25, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Meteghan RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle having been stolen from a property on Hwy. 1 in St. Bernard. RCMP officers learned that a Kia Sorento had been stolen by a man and that the vehicle owner had confronted the man during the theft. During the confrontation, the vehicle owner had managed to open the door of the vehicle and was thrown when the man put the vehicle in drive and sped away. The owner suffered minor injuries that did not require treatment.
At approximately 8:10 p.m., Digby RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Flat Iron Rd. in Conway. When RCMP officers arrived on scene, they noted that the vehicle was the Kia Sorento that had been stolen in St. Bernard. There was no one in the vehicle and with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, a search of the area was conducted, however no one was located. The vehicle was seized for processing by RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
The man involved in this incident is described as white, approximately 5-foot-9 and of medium build. He was last seen wearing a pair of jeans, a light-coloured baseball hat and zip-up sweater. Prior to the theft, the man was seen walking on Hwy. 1 in St. Bernard with his zip-up sweater open, exposing his abdomen.
