RCMP warn the public of a popular fraud scam.

On May 31, 2016 Colchester District RCMP received a complaint that someone had received a text  telling the recipient their client card at their bank had been compromised. The recipient followed instructions to click on an attached link. The recipient clicked the link and it appeared as though nothing happened; however, they later discovered that there was $1400 missing from their bank account. This fraudulent activity is not isolated to one bank and can appear to come from any bank.

If you receive such a text message do not open it. Report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at

1-888-495-8501 or your local police service.
