Sambro bus schedule to stay the same, for now

Hi everyone – OTC, the Chronicle Herald and Chebucto News previously reported cutbacks to the Sambro community bus schedule that would take effect this weekend. Those cuts are not going ahead at the moment. In the meantime, Councillor Steve Adams (district 18, Spryfield-Herring Cove) has asked Metro Transit for a report examining the concerns of the community.

Some community members have expressed concerns on a blog called Sambro Loop Community Bus Transit, and you can read more about them here.

When I last spoke to Councillor Adams a couple of weeks ago, he confirmed that the bus schedule would stay the same until regional council received the staff report and decided upon what to do. On October 6, Councillor Adams sent a letter to Metro Transit which is available on his website.

In the letter, Councillor Adams makes four suggestions for the report to council:
1. Leave the service as is, with scheduling adjustments to allow for better connections
2. Utilize two buses in peak hours for a complete coverage of the loop, and one bus for off peak hours.
3. An option for weekend service.
4. An option for coverage of the entire loop.

Councillor Adams says in the letter that he will advise the community of the council date when the discussion will take place and notes that Council will ultimately make the final decision.
