Report Of Missing Male Turns Out To Be A Hoax

This is an update report in relation to a prior incident from May 24th, 2015. In that Incident 911 Dispatch received a call from a person, previously believed to be a male, requesting help.
The response to that call involved Patrol along with K9 followed by additional assistance from Halifax Ground Search and Rescue in the area of Tower Road/Point Pleasant Park Halifax. No injured person was located and the search was eventually concluded.

Since that time 911 Dispatch has continued to receive multiple voice calls from this same phone number over the next 2 nights. Further attempts were made to identify and locate this phone and caller and on May 25th Patrol members were able to locate a 18 year old female in possession of the phone that was used to make these calls. Through further investigation and with assistance from the GIS Section, Police were able determine this suspect placed all calls to the 911 Dispatch centre from this phone. This female has since been released and will be appearing in Halifax Court at a later date to face two Criminal charges of Public Mischief along with a Summary Offence ticket for placing a false call to 911 in violation of the Emergency 911 Act.
