Seasonal supervision ends Aug. 31 at municipal beaches & outdoor pools

Lifeguard supervision and water quality testing at all municipal beaches and outdoor pools in the Halifax region ends for the summer season on Saturday, Aug. 31.

Most municipal splash pads will remain open until Friday, Sept. 13, however, hours will be reduced beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The Halifax Common splash pad will close for the season on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. and the George Dixon Centre splash pad remains closed for repairs. To learn more about municipal splash pads, visit www.halifax.ca/beaches

Please note: An algae bloom risk advisory remains in effect for Lake Micmac in Dartmouth. The off-leash dog area of Shubie Park​ at Lake Micmac will also be closed to swimming until further notice. Registration is now open for our fall recreation programs. With more than 50 community and recreation centres across the region, the municipality offers a variety of recreation programs to children, youth, adults and seniors all year round.
