Security guard assaulted after jewelry store robbery

Halifax Regional Police charged a man in connection with a robbery that occurred on September 26 in Halifax.

At 6:30 p.m. on September 26, there was a robbery at the Charm Diamond Centre located at 7001 Mumford Road in Halifax. The suspect entered the business, produced a hammer, smashed the jewelry cabinets grabbing jewelry and threatened an employee. The suspect exited the store and was approached by a security guard.  The suspect struck the security officer.  Injuries not believed to be life threatening.  Bystanders assisted in apprehending the suspect until further security guards arrived.

Patrols members arrested Jonathan Hill, 37. He was held for court and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today on charges of robbery and assault with a weapon.
