Serious injury collision closes Highway 107 for several hours

Just after 2 p.m. on May 24, Musquodoboit Harbour RCMP responded to a collision between a car and a dump truck. The car had been turning on the highway when it was struck by the dump truck. The collision occurred between Exits 20 and 21 on Hwy. 107. The dump truck was headed West when​ the collision occurred.

The 18-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the car sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported via​ ambulance to hospital. As of 8 p.m. on May 24, police were advised the driver remained in critical condition. The driver and sole occupant of the dump truck was not injured.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called to examine the scene. As a result, Hwy. 107 was closed from the time of the collision until shortly after 8 p.m. Traffic was rerouted to Hwy. 7 while Hwy. 107​ was closed.​

The investigation is ongoing.
