Seven suspicious fires in three weeks: Police investigating

Cumberland County District RCMP is investigating numerous suspicious fires that have occurred over the last three weeks in Cumberland County.

On August 5, 2022, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Cumberland County District RCMP and fire responded to a report of a barn fire on Hwy. 321 in River Phillip. The fire was extinguished and is believed to be suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.

On August 12, at approximately 4:30 a.m., RCMP officers and fire responded to a structure fire on Silica Rd. in Williamsdale. The fire was extinguished but not before the structure was completely destroyed. The fire is believed to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.

On August 19, at approximately 6 a.m., RCMP officers and fire responded to a structure fire on Westchester Rd. in Rose. The fire was extinguished but not before the structure was completely destroyed. The fire is believed to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.

On August 25, at approximately 9:55 a.m., RCMP officers and fire responded to a covered bridge that was on fire near Mountain Rd. in Collingwood. The fire was extinguished by the fire department and the fire has been deemed suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.

On August 26, at approximately 1:55 a.m., RCMP officers and fire responded to a report of a structure fire on Wyvern Rd. in Wyvern. The fire was extinguished and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

At approximately 2:35 a.m., RCMP officers and fire responded to a report of hay bales on fire on Hwy. 321 in River Philip. The fire was extinguished and is believed to be suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.
