Man arrested after damaging home, confrontation with elderly man

RCMP has arrested a man in relation to a mischief that occurred in Cole Harbour.

On August 26, 2022, at approximately 12:55 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of an altercation and mischief at a home on Dalkeith Crt. in Cole Harbour. RCMP officers learned that a 70-year-old man had been in an altercation with a 22-year-old man who damaged the residence and then fled on foot, prior to their arrival. RCMP officers along with Police Dog Services began searching the area and located the 22-year-old man nearby. A foot pursuit followed over several kilometers, with assistance of Halifax Regional Police, the man was safely arrested in Dartmouth at 2:25 p.m.

Xavier Denomme of Cole Harbour, remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday, August 29, on charges of Mischief, Resist Arrest and Breach of Court Order as well as outstanding arrest warrants from previous incidents in Halifax.

The parties are known to one another and there was no risk to the public. There were no injuries in this event.

The investigation is ongoing.
