Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:
- Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capa>ble of producing heavy rain.
Potential rainfall rates: 25 mm per hour or higher.
Locations: Halifax County west, Colchester County – Truro and south, Annapolis, Queens, Kings and Lunenburg, Hants counties.
Time span: through this evening.
Remarks: Conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms, some of these storms may become severe.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
