Shelburne RCMP intercept Street Race, Shelburne County, N.S.

An evening street race on Highway 103 has resulted in fines and driving suspensions for two Shelburne County men. On Sunday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m., a Shelburne RCMP officer conducting enforcement on Highway 103 stopped two vehicles engaged in a high speed street race.

On Sunday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m., a Shelburne RCMP officer conducting enforcement on Highway 103 stopped two vehicles engaged in a high speed street race.

Vehicle speeds were determined to be in excess of 150 km/h.

A 19-year-old male driver of one of the vehicles was charged with Stunting. The 26-year-old driver of the other vehicle was told to remain at roadside but did not comply and left the area.

The 19-year-old driver lost his license for seven days and his vehicle was impounded. The driver who left the area was arrested after he turned himself in to the RCMP. He was charged with Stunting and Failing to Obey a Police Officer. His license was suspended for seven days. Upon conviction for Stunting both drivers will face a fine of $2418.95.

Street Racing is dangerous and illegal, the risk to drivers and the public is extreme and the consequences can be devastating. The investigation is continuing.
