Shielo Leave in Protectant

As you probably heard, I don’t do much with my hair except for some oil at the end and hardly dive into the world of hair care products.

So we’re talking about one today, it is an Antioxidant Leave in Protectant spray from Shielo, provided to me for review.

There is a lot going on in this product: organic extracts, protective complex of pro-vitamins, proteins and amino acids. The purpose is to infuse hair with vitamins, provide UV protection and reduce the effect of heat styling. And it’s good for both natural and colour treated hair.

Ingredients: Water, Hexapeptide-11, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter), Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) fruit extract, helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) seed extract, Cysteine, Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis flower extract, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Golden Seal) root extract, Arctium Majus (Burdock) root extract, Hydrolyzed Soy protein, Pyrus Malus (Apple) fruit extract, etc.

The product is paraben free, can be used while hair is damp prior to use of heat tools and throughout the day to refresh the hair style, control fly-aways and frizz.

As suggested, I spray Shielo on my towel-dried hair, comb through, and off I go. Spray again the next morning before I leave for work and don’t feel the need to refresh during the day when I’m inside. Now if I’m on vacation or out and about while the UV rays are the strongest (10am – 4pm), I’ll definitely spray it during the day too.

This was taken after work the day after I washed my hair, so it was about 11 hours since the product was used last. My hair was smooth and shiny, not crunchy or heavy, and tangles were easier to manage. I do have some red colour near the end of the hair strands, did not notice extreme fading with this product. Note that my hair is naturally straight, and I did not use a flat iron on it.

The spray does have a light sweet candy scent, detectable mostly when you apply it and fades quickly.

The Leave in Protection spray comes in a plastic bottle of 4oz/ 118ml, reg. $19.99. At the time of this post, it is on sale on Shielo website for $14. Shielo ships internationally but I am not sure about the exact charge.
