Shots fired at vehicle in Dartmouth

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in Dartmouth.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. police responded to shots fired on Leaman Drive in Dartmouth. A man shot at a parked vehicle and then fled the area. At this time, there have been no reported injuries, and at this stage of the investigation, we believe the shooting is not a random incident.

Streets in the area were temporarily closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic in part due to the proximity of the incident to John McNeil Elementary School. The area has now been reopened but officers remain in the area as the investigation continues.

We thank the public for their cooperation and patience.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident or video from the area to call police at 902-490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by using the P3 Tips app.
