Sixteen year-old girl falls 50 feet while swimming, North River, N.S.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Police, EHS, North River Fire Department and the Special Hazzards - High Angle Rescue team from Bible Hill responded to a report of a 16 year- old Colchester girl falling 50 feet down a ravine while swimming in the North River Falls area.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Police, EHS, North River Fire Department and the Special Hazzards – High Angle Rescue team from Bible Hill responded to a report of a 16 year- old Colchester girl falling 50 feet down a ravine while swimming in the North River Falls area.

The girl was reported to be walking when she lost her footing and fell down the embankment. She eventually came to rest in the water and was immediately removed from the water to the shore by others on the shore.

Once emergency services arrived, the girl’s medical condition was assessed and initially treated. It was determined that removal from the area was going to be challenging. 413 Squadron from Greenwood were called upon to assist. Shortly after 11 p.m., the girl was airlifted from the ravine and transported to meet with EHS for further medical treatment. Injuries are unknown at this time.
