Special weather statement: Significant snowfall this week (Posted 7:30am April 2)

Potential multi-day snowfall amounts: 10 to 20 cm. Higher totals possible over Cape Breton

Timing: Wednesday overnight and continuing through Friday morning. Snow will begin later on Thursday across Cape Breton.

Remarks: The snow is likely to be very wet and heavy in nature. This, along with gusty easterly winds, may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur. Both morning and evening commutes on Thursday are likely to be affected by this weather system. Rain may mix with snow at times over western Nova Scotia Thursday night.

Snowfall warnings may be required.
