Summer drug seizure leads to charges, Ingonish, N.S.

Ingonish Beach RCMP have charged a local man with trafficking after a quantity of drugs were seized last summer. On July 23rd, 2013, the RCMP was called to an area where approximately five pounds (5 lbs) of marijuana was located in a wooded area in Ingonish.

On July 23rd, 2013, the RCMP was called to an area where approximately five pounds (5 lbs) of marijuana was located in a wooded area in Ingonish.

RCMP attended the location and seized the drugs. An investigation commenced and with the help of forensic evidence, RCMP were able to identify the owner of the marijuana.

On March 17th, 2014, Ingonish Beach RCMP and the Sydney Federal Drug Section executed a search warrant at a residence in Ingonish. A 54-year-old man was arrested without incident and RCMP seized a substantial sum of money. The man, who is facing a charge of Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking, was released from custody and will appear in Ingonish Provincial Court on June 12th, 2014.
