Lung cancer is the most common form of cancer in men and women.

In 2008 an estimated 5,800 new cases of cancer will be reported in Nova Scotia. 860 or 14.8% of these will be lung cancer diagnosis.

And in 85% of cases in Nova Scotia, tobacco is a contributing factor.

The Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer is about demonstrating that we as a community support those fighting or who have fought lung cancer; they are not alone.

The Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer is about our community, together, setting small goals and meeting the challenge so that one day, the greater goal of a cure may be achieved.

Every time you achieve something small, you get closer to something big.
