The Countdown is On: 100 Days Until Canada Winter Games

Athletes across Nova Scotia are busy preparing for the 2015
Canada Winter Games, which start 100 days from today, Nov. 4.
The games, in Prince George, B.C., begin Feb. 13,
and run until March 1.

“Team Nova Scotia is excited that the games are drawing near,” said Mark Smith, chef de mission for Team Nova Scotia 2015. “Our mission staff have been busy meeting with coaches and athletes in preparation for the event.

“Now that we have entered the 100-day countdown, we are hoping that all Nova Scotians will share in our excitement.”

The rosters for men’s and women’s curling, synchronized swimming, freestyle skiing and wheelchair basketball are complete and posted on www.teamnovascotia.ca .

Tryouts for men’s hockey, women’s hockey, archery, gymnastics, cross-country skiing, ringette, trampoline, biathlon, speed skating, table tennis, alpine skiing, judo, badminton, squash, target shooting, snowboard and figure skating are ongoing. Team rosters are expected to be complete in January.

A pep rally will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Emera Oval in Halifax to officially send off Team Nova Scotia. Everyone is invited to attend to meet the athletes, skate with them and send them off with best wishes. The team leaves for Prince George on Feb. 12.
