The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the Emera Oval is opening on Saturday, May 31 for the summer season.
Residents will be able to enjoy the concrete surface for rollerskating, biking, skateboarding, in-line skating and more.
Free equipment rentals, including bikes, scooters and skateboards, will be available – as well as access to public washrooms and first aid stations. Helmets are mandatory for all users and are also available for rent free of charge. Valid ID is required for all rentals.
E-powered and segway-style equipment are not permitted on the Emera Oval to ensure the safety of others.
The municipality will also be hosting Rec Day programming at the Emera Oval on Saturday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities will include face painting, inflatables and various municipal program demonstrations. Representatives from Halifax Emergency Fire & Emergency, Halifax Regional Police, Speedy Kids, Disc Dolf Nova Scotia, Halifax Tides FC, Sportball Nova Scotia and Athletics Nova Scotia will also be in attendance.
