Thousands of dollars in retail thefts: 62 charges against man

Police have laid 62 charges in relation to a number of thefts that occurred throughout the region.

Between February 10 and April 12, police received 14 reports of thefts from a number of different retail locations. In each case, the man entered the store, stole merchandise and then fled on foot. The merchandise stolen in the incidents is estimated to be in the thousands of dollars.

On March 23 the accused failed to attend court as required and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Last night at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Quick Response Unit arrested a man in relation to the incidents.

Brandon Germaine Rogers, 35, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face 14 counts of theft under $5,000, 13 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, 34 counts of breaching a court order and one count of failing to appear.
