1) Police respond to an impaired driving complaint involving an accident, vehicle leaves the scene. File 19-59649 Central Division
At 8:55 pm police responded to the intersection of North and Agricola Street in Halifax to a report of a hit and run accident. A vehicle rear ended another vehicle causing minor damages. The sole occupant of the struck vehicle was not injured. The suspect vehicle immediately fled the scene heading westbound along North Street. Witnesses believed the driver was impaired. Police were provided with a license plate and vehicle description. The vehicle was observed taking the Dunbrack exit from Highway102.
At 9:07 pm the vehicle was observed by police in the 400 block of Herring Cove Road. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver taken into custody without incident.
A 27 year old male is being held in police custody facing the following charges:
Prohibited driving, failing to remain at an accident scene, 3 counts of breaching a recognizance, resist arrest, impaired operation and refusal to comply with a demand for testing.
He will appear in Halifax Provincial court later today.
2) Police respond to a weapons incident. File 19-59682 East Division
At 10:53 pm members responded to the intersection of Albro Lake Road and Pincrest Drive in Dartmouth to a report of a male pointing a Tazer.
Upon police arrival a suspect was identified and taken into custody at 11:00 pm without incident. There were no victims or injuries as a result of this incident.
A stun gun was located on the male and seized by police.
A 19 year old male is facing the following charges:
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon in an unauthorized place.
He was later released on a promise to appear in court at a later date and to follow conditions of an undertaking.
3) Police respond to a suspicious vehicle fire. File 19-59697 West Division
At 11:50 pm police responded to the 0-100 block of Fraser Road in Williamswood to a report of a vehicle fire. Police discovered a Ford F150 fully engulfed in flames. Investigators are treating the fire as suspicious. No surrounding properties were damaged.
