Throwing stars, replica firearms among weapons seized from home

The Kings District RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) has charged a man with firearms offences after a search warrant was executed at a home on Rawding Rd. in Chipman Brook.

On October 14, 2022, the Kings District RCMP GIS, assisted by the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (VISCEU), executed a search warrant at a home on Rawding Rd. in Chipman Brook. No one was present at the home at the time of the search. During the search, police seized rifles, shotguns, replica firearms, knives, throwing stars and ammunition.

On October 17, Benjamin MacAskill, 32, of Chipman Brook, turned himself in at the Kings District East Detachment (New Minas). MacAskill was later released on conditions and charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized. MacAskill will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on January 17, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation was assisted by the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
