Time Well Spent: Chin Challenge

It started out like any other Sunday afternoon in our house. Sunday is our chill day – we have no sports or activities scheduled so we get to reconnect as a family. We always do something fun together like go for a hike, play games, go skating or see a movie. This particular Sunday, however, found us all feeling a little under the weather. My daughter and husband were just getting over a cold and my other daughter and I were just starting to get it so we all agreed it was best to chill at home.  We played a few intense rounds of “Spot It” and “Suspend” (both great games to check out!), watched some youtube videos and more. At one point, my youngest daughter was upside down on the couch with her feet on the cushion and her head hanging over the edge. She had already been home sick for 2 days so I knew a little ‘cabin fever’ was brewing. “I’m bored!!!” she sighed. Then it hit me. Seeing her upside down like that, watching her mouth move as she spoke. I couldn’t believe my kids were 7 and 9 and I hadn’t yet introduced them to this hilarious trick from my childhood. I grabbed a (washable) marker and a scarf and the rest of the afternoon was filled with giggles, snorts and full-belly laughs. Before long, my oldest daughter coined it the “chin challenge and suggested we post it here and get others to do it too. Such an awesome idea that I promised I would follow through on. So…without further delay – introducing our official CHIN CHALLENGE! It’s easy and fun. Just grab a marker, cover your neck and nose and get your chin challenge on. Sing, tell a joke or say a poem. Whatever works! Missing teeth certainly add to the fun! Even my husband got in on the action. We tried to get him to be Chewbacca but he gave us some Frozen instead. Ha! So what are you waiting for? Go ahead, post your own videos. Challenge others and let’s get 2016 off to a laughing start!
