Tire Recycling Plan – Update from News 95.7

tires_wheelsThe County of Guysborough is threatening legal action now to stop a tire recycling plant from locating in HRM.

“The province has now cleared the way for C&D Recycling to set up the plant in Goodwood off the Prospect Road that will shred or store up to 1 million old tires a year.

Lloyd Hines, the warden of Guysborough County, says their bid was substaintally cheaper than the Goodwood one.

“In a province as broke as Nova Scotia,” says Lloyd Hines, “how can you kiss off $650,000 a year for a guaranteed five years with the option for another five years?”
