Traffic stop leads to series of arrests in drug investigation

A traffic stop and two subsequent searches of homes in Cooks Brook and Middle Sackville resulted in five arrests as part of an investigation by the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

Just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the Drug Unit, with assistance from Halifax District RCMP, conducted a targeted traffic stop on a vehicle on the Old Guysborough Rd. in Goffs.

As a result, a 25-year-old man from Middle Sackville was arrested, without incident, after police located 200 grams of cocaine, and a large quantity of cash in the vehicle.

Joshua Gower-Fifield has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – two counts, and Production of a Substance. He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Thursday where he was remanded in to custody. He will return to Dartmouth Provincial Court on August 20 at 9:30 a.m.

A short time later, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Innis Lane in Cooks Brook. During the search, six long guns, 2.3 kg of cocaine, 243 grams of a substance believed to be crystal meth and other items indicative of drug trafficking were also seized.

A 55-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, both of Cooks Brook, are facing multiple charges in relation to this seizure.  Stewart Douglas Wright and Belinda McMullen has been charged with 6 firearm related offences, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a Substance.

Both appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court Thursday where they were released on conditions.  They are scheduled to return to Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 17 at 9:30 a.m.

A search warrant was later executed at a residence on Fescue Crt. in Middle Sackville in relation to this investigation.

A 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both of Middle Sackville, were arrested without incident.  During this search, officer’s seized 168 grams of cocaine, 506 grams of marijuana, a large quantity of cash, and 885 grams of cutting agents, and other items indicative of drug trafficking were also seized.

Nevin Joseph Clark-Andrews and Katie Mellor, have been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a Substance.

Both appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Thursday. They have been released on conditions and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 19 at 1:30 p.m.

The investigation is continuing.
