Traffic stop results in significant cocaine seizure, Fort Lawrence, N.S.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, a member of the RCMP’s Northern Traffic Services unit was monitoring traffic on Highway 104, just outside of Amherst and noted a speeding vehicle. The RCMP officer stopped the vehicle, and as a result, seized approximately two kilograms of cocaine. The 33-year-old man and lone occupant from Brampton, Ontario was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and has been remanded to appear in Amherst Provincial Court tomorrow.

The incident is still under investigation with the assistance of members of the RCMP’s Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit.
