Heritage Day 2016 – What’s open and what’s closed in Halifax Nova Scotia On Heritage Day (Joe Howe) 2016

Shopping

All major malls, grocery chains and big-box stores are closed.

Open:
– Drug stores (Shoppers, etc)
– Fast food and other restaurants
– Gas stations
– Independent food stores such as Dave’s Fruit & Vegetable, Chops, Gateway Meat Market etc may be open. (Phone ahead)

Libraries

All Halifax Libraries are closed.

Garbage

Today’s pickup was rescheduled for Saturday the 13th. If you didn’t get your garbage/recycling out then, you missed it.

Parking

Parking at city meters is free today.

Transit

Halifax Transit is running on Holiday schedules. Follow @hfxtransit and hfxtraffic.ca for updates.

Mail Delivery

Canada Post delivery is still happening today, as this is a Provincial Holiday not recognized Federally.
