Authorities are investigating a morning fire on highway 118 that closed the highway temporarily.

Sunday,  September 11th 2011 Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) N.S. …. Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Halifax District, responded with HRM Fire Services responded to a complaint of a fire involving a trailer transport with eight cars, northbound on highway 118, near exit 13E, and just south of the exit to Akerley Blvd at 04:24 hours. At 07:20 hours the RCMP are waiting for the arrival of  a crane and flatbed to remove the burned cars. This way cause some traffic delays for northbound traffic (i.e. towards Fall River and the Airport) on the 118 Highway near exit 13E. The Dept. of Transport is also assisting with traffic control. The investigation is continuing.
