Two arrests made after two separate robberies in Halifax

Just prior to 5PM last evening a suspect entered the TD Bank located at 5495 Spring Garden Road in Halifax. He approached a staff member and demanded money. He produced an exacto knife. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank. The area was checked by numerous police units with negative results. Police were able to track down the suspect approximately one hour later and he was arrested without incident. A 44 year old male will be appearing in Provincial Court in the morning facing charges of robbery, threats, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.

At 11:20 last evening a 20 year old female was walking in the area of 6169 Quinpool Road in Halifax when she was approached by a male who stated he had a knife and demanded money and her cell phone. No knife was seen. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled the area. The victim called police and numerous police units attended the area. The suspect was located a short distance away and was taken into custody without incident. A 22 year old male will appear in Provincial Court in the morning facing charges of robbery.
