Two charged after string of robberies and thefts

Queens District RCMP has charged two people following a string of robberies and thefts that occurred in Lunenburg and Queens Counties.

On March 9, at approximately 10 p.m. Queens District RCMP received a report of theft that occurred at a gas station on Bristol Av., in Liverpool. RCMP officers learned that a man travelling in a blue sedan had pumped gas and left without paying.

On March 10, at approximately 6:50 a.m., RCMP officers received a call from a second gas station, also on Bristol Av., advising a masked man entered the store and demanded money before fleeing on foot. No money was taken.

Later that morning, at approximately 9 a.m., Lunenburg District RCMP received a call from gas station on Hwy. 325, in Wileville, advising a masked man entered the store wearing a mask and demanded money.  The man then fled the scene on foot with $65 dollars.

On March 26, at approximately 1 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a robbery that occurred at a gas station on Bristol Av. RCMP officers learned that a woman entered the business and demanded money while the male driver of the vehicle, she arrived in, pumped gas.

Later that same morning, at approximately 7 a.m., Queens District RCMP responded to a second robbery that also occurred in Liverpool, this time at a convenience store on Old Port Mouton Rd.

No injuries were reported.

From the information and evidence gathered, investigators identified two people involved in the incidents.

On March 28, RCMP officers attended a home on Maplewood Dr., in Liverpool, and safely arrested a man and a woman both from Liverpool.

Lisa Jean Bezanson, 33, has been charged with:

  • Robbery (two counts)
  • Theft Under $5,000

Michael James Doucette, 37, has been charged with:

  • Robbery (three counts)
  • Theft Under $5,000 (two counts)
  • Disguise with intent (three counts)

The two accused appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court and were remanded into custody. Doucette will return in court on May 8, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. and Bezanson will return in court on April 5, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
