Two charged in senior’s death, Eskasoni, N.S.

Eskasoni RCMP have charged two people following an investigation into the death of a senior. On June 25th, 2013, Eskasoni RCMP began an investigation after John Johnson, 65, from Eskasoni passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

On June 25th, 2013, Eskasoni RCMP began an investigation after John Johnson, 65, from Eskasoni passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

After being contacted by the Medical Examiner’s office, the RCMP investigated and determined that Johnson was taken to the hospital on June 22nd suffering from a number of medical issues. He passed away the same day. The investigation revealed Johnson was in need of daily assistance and was not receiving the proper care from the responsible persons.

Marcella Marie Johnson, 53, and Peter Young, 56, have each been charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life. They are set to appear in Sydney Provincial Court today. The investigation is continuing.
