At approximately 4:36 p.m. police received a report that a man inside a residence in the 0-200 block of Fergusons Cove Road may be in possession of a firearm.​

There was concern for the individuals safety and as a result a small section of Fergusons Cove Road had restricted access.

At 10:09 pm a 69 year old male was taken into police custody without incident.​

A number of officers remain on scene pending further investigation.​ Fergusons Cove Road no longer has restricted access.

This incident did not have any threat to public safety .

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and further information will be released when available.

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a break and enter that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At 2:56 am officers responded to a report of a commercial alarm at the Sobeys Express Convenience Store, 5 Ruth Goldbloom Drive in Halifax.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes and discovered a break and enter had occurred.

The suspect broke the glass door, entered the business and stole cigarettes.​

The suspect fled the scene in a late model Toyota Rav 4 with a spare tire on the back with a white cover.​ The vehicle had chrome rims and a bug deflector.​ There appeared to be a passenger in the front seat.​

The vehicle was last observed heading onto Farnham gate Road towards highway 102.
