Two incidents of interest via HRP : May Day protest in Halifax / Drug search in Dartmouth

Protest-May Day

At 620pm on 180501 members attended the area of Gottingen Street and Rainnie Drive in relation to approx. 40 protestors from the “Smiling Goat May Day Contingent” who were walking down the middle of Gottingen St. Police requested the group which included young children, to move to the sidewalk as it was a safety and traffic concern. Some members of the group complied with the police request but several declined to move to the sidewalk. As result two of the protestors were arrested for breach of the peace. They were released from police custody a short time later.

Drug Search

At 815 pm on 180501 members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant in the 0-100 block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth. A quantity of Marihuana, Cocaine, Methadone and currency were seized. Three adult males and two adult females were arrested and charged with 5(2) CDSA. Two of the males will be appearing in court in the morning. The other male and two females were released and will appear in court at a later date.
