Police Investigate Robbery of Cab Driver

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax overnight.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. police received a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Prince and Argyle Streets in Halifax.​ The driver of a taxi cab reported bringing a fare to this location from another address in Halifax.​Upon parking the taxi, the driver was punched in the face by the fare who proceeded to grab a sum of cash and flee on foot.​ The suspect was last observed running up the hill westbound on Prince Street.​

The driver was not seriously injured.

During the course of the investigation an adult male suspect was identified by police, though no arrests have yet been made.

Police Arrest Robbery Suspects

Halifax Regional Police have arrested two people in relation to a robbery.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. police responded to reports of a robbery at a retail business on Chain Lake Drive in Halifax.​ A loss prevention employee approached two males suspected of stealing products from the business.​

One of the males produced a knife threatening to harm the employee.​ There were no injuries and the suspects fled from the business in a vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, police were able to identify the suspects who were located and arrested at a residence in Halifax just before midnight.

A 25-year old man from Dartmouth is expected to be released to appear in court at a later date to face charges of Theft and Possession Under $5,000.

A 48-year old man from Halifax remains in custody and is expected to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 to face charges of Robbery, Uttering Threats, and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
