At 6:11pm officers responded to the corner of Upper Water St/George Street regarding a suspicious black duffel bag found unattended on the sidewalk. The bag was there for over an hour before the police were contacted. The bag was located on the north sidewalk on George Street between Bedford Row and Lower Water Street. Officers shut down traffic and secured the area – keeping pedestrians away from the area. K-9 (bomb dog) and two members of the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) attended the scene. The bomb dog did not pick up an explosive scent and the bag was x-rayed and determined to contain clothing and toiletries.
