RCMP have reopened highway 289.

At 9:26 a.m, Colchester RCMP along with Emergency Health Services and the Brookfield Fire Department responded to a collision involving a small car and a pick-up truck.

The male driver and sole occupant of the car a 19-year-old resident of Upper Stewiacke passed away at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The pick-up truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
