I know my son was very excited when he spotted the first dandelions of the year a few weeks ago, and since then he's been tenderly caring for the ones in our front yard ("don't they look beautiful, Mommy?") and bringing me dandelion bouquets from the back yard. So we were thrilled to hear about this week's Dandelion Festival, and especially the dandelion party and potluck coming up on Saturday! Starting from 4pm, there will be art for kids, drumming, a talk on dandelion vinegar, music and a potluck dinner with dandelion pasta provided! Click here for more details and check out the Festival's website for dandelion
recipes and other information.
Did you know that one cup of dandelion greens has more four times more Vitamin A than a cup of broccoli? Who'd a thunk it, eh? If you do go dandelion harvesting for food, keep in mind that it's best to pick away from roads, driveways and old houses that may have used lead paint. More information is available in the Halifax Urban Soil Guide here.
Other weekend events just added to our calendar:

And if you are looking for an excuse to get out of the city, why not take a trip to Ross Farm for Mother's Day to enjoy tea and cake at Rose Bank Cottage. Free admission for all moms! Please click here for more information.
Have a great weekend – and a very Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and grandmothers out there!
