Update on firearms stolen from Hantsport home

Police have arrested two people in relation to the theft of four handguns that were stolen from a home in Hantsport on February 17.

On February 18, the RCMP was notified by Halifax Regional Police (HRP) that two suspects in the theft were in a home on Young St. in Halifax. Given the nature of the call, the HRP officers requested assistance from the HRP Emergency Response Team, an HRP​ K-9 team, and a negotiator.

An 36-year-old man and an 34-year-old woman were arrested for the theft when they left the home. A warrant was obtained to search the home, however the guns have not yet been found. Both individuals were released from custody later that day.​ The man​ was released without charges and the female is​ scheduled to attend Windsor Provincial Court on April 23, on charges of Theft Under $5000, and a number of firearms-related charges.​

The investigation is ongoing.
